Etching "Lungarno and Ponte S.Trinita"
Etching by Giuseppe Zocchi (1716–1767) depicting the Lungarno and Ponte Santa Trinita in Florence. Beneath the image appears the title: View of the Lung’arno and Ponte Santa Trinita taken from the Terrace of the Rucellai Palace. The print is taken from the volume Scelta di XXIV vedute delle principali contrade, piazze, chiese e palazzi della città di Firenze, published in Florence in the summer of 1744 and dedicated to Grand Duchess Maria Theresa of Austria.
The views composing the volume combine the Florentine seventeenth-century tradition with the study of contemporary Venetian models and the use of the camera obscura, resulting in a precise and analytical depiction of urban spaces.
