The print is from the volume Scelta di XXIV vedute delle principali contrade, piazze, chiese e palazzi della città di Firenze, published in Florence in the summer of 1744 and dedicated to Grand Duchess Maria Theresa of Austria.

The views in the series combine the 17th-century Florentine tradition with the study of contemporary Venetian models and the use of the camera obscura, resulting in a precise and analytical rendering of urban spaces.
